Company Overview
Founded in 2019, Loglass Inc. is a fast-growing Japanese startup helping enterprises streamline business planning through cloud-based solutions. Its flagship platform, Loglass FP&A, powers budgeting, forecasting, and personnel management for companies, including those listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market
Challenges
Earning Enterprise Trust as the Company Scaled
As Loglass FP&A adoption among large organizations took off, the company quickly faced a new reality: enterprise customers expected mature security controls and demonstrable compliance from day one. With no formal security team and limited resources, the responsibility fell to the infrastructure group.
“The number of companies using the service was increasing, and we had to keep up,” said Shin Katsumaru, Engineering Manager at Loglass. “Implementing compliance was a pressing issue.”
Complicating matters, Loglass was acquiring customers from all industries and compliance expectations varied widely by industry and organization size, making a flexible, scalable solution essential.
Limited Visibility Across Dynamic Cloud Environments
Operating multiple services across several Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts, the Loglass team struggled to maintain visibility into its security posture. Overly permissive identity and access management roles, and unnecessary permissions often went undetected.
“We didn’t know what we couldn’t see,” said Atsushi Miyamoto, Infrastructure Engineer at Loglass. “And when things went wrong, it was hard to understand why or what to do about it.”
Existing observability tools lacked real-time security insights, leaving critical blind spots across the environments and no actionable insights.
Empowering Developers Without Slowing Innovation
Loglass’ long-term vision was to shift security left, embedding compliance and authorization checks directly into the development life cycle. But most developers were unfamiliar with cloud security best practices. The infrastructure team needed a tool that developers could easily adopt, without slowing release velocity.
Solutions
Smart Evaluation, Swift Deployment
Facing growing pressure to meet compliance expectations, Loglass consulted trusted engineering partners to evaluate options. “We evaluated Sysdig and its competitors from a variety of perspectives: functionality, support, and price,” Katsumaru said. “Sysdig was overwhelmingly competitive in terms of cost and ease of implementation.”
Following a successful pilot, Loglass rolled out the Sysdig Platform across its AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS) and AWS Fargate environments. The rollout was efficient, and the platform’s accessibility helped the team quickly realize value.
Compliance Made Visible and Actionable
With Sysdig’s out-of-the-box compliance policies and pass/fail scoring, the team gained real-time visibility into violations across its AWS footprint. According to Miyamoto, who had never implemented compliance before, “The dashboard made it easy to understand our compliance posture and what we needed to fix. Even as someone new to compliance, I found it intuitive.”
This transparency enabled Loglass to address issues proactively, build client trust, and accelerate its audits.
Detecting and Responding to Threats at Runtime
For the first time, the team gained runtime visibility into what was happening inside containers. Powered by Falco and mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, Sysdig’s detection engine helped them identify real-time threats – such as privilege escalation and anomalous behavior – even within their verification environment.
“Before Sysdig, we had no way to see runtime risks in production,” Katsumaru said. “Now, if something happens, we get an alert with context that helps us understand and respond quickly.”
AI-Driven Security That Scales with Your Team
Integrated directly into Sysdig Secure, Sysdig Sage™, acts as an intelligent, always-on security analyst powered by generative AI. By combining autonomous agents with deep contextual awareness, Sysdig Sage turns complex cloud-security incidents into guided, conversational workflows. Rather than wrestling with disparate logs, teams can simply ask Sysdig Sage what’s happening and why, and then act on its suggestions without having to escalate tickets.
“Sysdig Sage is an extra engineer on the Loglass team,” Miyamoto said. “Even if we aren’t sure how to fix something, Sysdig Sage explains it in real time, which means that we can resolve issues on our own without escalating tickets.”
Through natural language conversations, Loglass has accelerated its response times and closed skill gaps across teams. At the same time, Sysdig Sage strengthened the overall security posture. The tool empowers businesses to defend proactively against evolving cyber threats with greater efficiency and confidence.
Developer-Centric Workflows with Terraform
Sysdig’s support for Terraform enabled Loglass to embed security policies into its infrastructure-as-code framework, enabling consistency across environments.
“We’re moving toward developers owning more of the security setup,” Katsumaru said. “Sysdig made that not just possible, but practical.”
With policies codified and embedded early, teams could prevent misconfigurations at build time instead of reacting to issues after deployment fixes.
Responsive, Localized Support
Whenever we have an issue or a question, the Sysdig team delivers hands-on support, including Zoom sessions in Japanese,” Katsumaru said. “Buying Sysdig was more than buying a tool, it was partnering with cloud security experts.
“The Sysdig team has helped us solve issues as they arise, and because of them, we move faster and avoid mistakes we didn’t even know to look out for. We feel very supported by Sysdig’s support engineers,” Miyamoto added.
Security That Moves at the Speed of Growth
With Sysdig, Loglass was able to operationalize security and compliance in weeks – not months. The team quickly rolled out compliance controls across AWS ECS and Fargate environments and gained real-time visibility into risks that were previously hidden. Alerts delivered context-rich insights, significantly accelerating investigation and resolution time. Developers, too, became active participants in securing workloads, using Terraform and guided workflows to build with security top of mind.
This shift marked the beginning of Loglass’ commitment to a “secure by design” approach, embedding security into every stage of development, from infrastructure configuration through production deployment.
By consolidating detection, compliance, and runtime protection into a single platform, Loglass also reduced its tooling overhead, achieving security maturity without compromising speed or efficiency. As the company scales its product portfolio and expands into multicloud environments, that balance of agility and control will be critical.
“Security can’t be something that happens after the fact,” Katsumaru said. “Sysdig is helping us make security part of how we build. And that’s exactly how you do cloud security the right way.”
